Vintage 1950s red and gold jewelled spider brooch

Fantastic vintage spider brooch dating to the 1950s.  A large faceted ruby red glass stone set in his abdomen.  Alloy base with a dark gold coloured coating which has rubbed through on his head and legs.  Despite this he is still an eye-catching and formidable piece of jewellery.

Not one for the faint hearted, this arachnid measures 6.5 cm across  in total, with the body measuring 3 cm long. 
C-shaped clasp in excellent working order. This item is in great vintage condition apart from the wearing on the coating, which suggests this was once a much loved piece of jewellery.
